Salsa Blackthorn Deore brings together performance and adventure. The aluminum frame is stiff enough to keep you on your line and durable enough to toss in a truck bed for shuttling. Our progressive geometry and Split Pivot suspension design offer a well-balanced platform for pedaling, descending, and taking on technical features. A 140 mm RockShox Super Deluxe Select shock and 160 mm RockShox 35 Gold RL fork ensure plenty of travel for gnarly drops, gaps, and other features. On-bike cargo features like a down tube strap, top tube mounts, and a bottle mount let you keep the weight of your ride gear down low on the frame so you're free to move your body without the burden of a pack.
With Shimano's robust Deore 1 x 12 drivetrain backing you up, you'll find very few limits out there. Blackthorn Deore is the 29er all-mountain bike for big rides on diverse terrain.

The Blackthorn-specific control link and shock links optimize the frame geometry and kinematics for its suspension travel, delivering a well-rounded, balanced trail feel.
PROGRESSIVE GEOMETRY
Blackthorn is long, low, and slack, with a dash of moderation to preserve pedaling performance. A 64.6-degree head tube angle and short-offset fork feel confident when descending loose, steep trails or blasting through rock gardens. A steep 76.5-degree seat tube angle and consistent cockpit sizing makes for a comfortable pedaling position, while the moderate bottom bracket height provides stability at speed without sacrificing pedaling performance in technical sections. The long front center provides stability in extreme terrain while the short 432 mm chainstays make for nimble handling in tight situations.
FLIP CHIP 2.0
Integrated into the shock link mount, Flip Chip 2.0 allows simple, quick adjustments to bottom bracket height and head tube angle to account for the rider’s personal preference, terrain, or wheel size and tire diameter.
EPS CARBON MAIN TRIANGLE WITH CARBON SEATSTAYS AND ALUMINUM CHAINSTAYS
EPS construction allows for greater manufacturing control, smooth surfacing, a simplified bottom bracket junction, and an integrated shock mount. Carbon fiber material offers improved stiffness, better vibration damping, excellent toughness and weight savings compared to other materials. 6066-T6 aluminum heat-treated chainstays add durability.

Salsa innovated new bottle and accessory mount placements for added utility and ride range. Our gravel and road bikes have mounts on the top tube and underside of the down tube, plus up to five additional bottle mounts for extra hydration, ride accessories, and bikepacking gear. Our mountain bike line features top tube mounts, mounts on the underside of the down tube on hardtail models, and space for multiple bottles on hardtails and select suspension bikes.

If ever there was a gravity riders' XC bike, the Tallboy is it.
The new 120mm Tallboy takes a leap further into what short-travel bikes really are capable of. With kick-ass lower-link VPP suspension, a streamlined design, the typical Santa Cruz refinement, and rather radical geometry, the Tallboy is back to being a genre-bending folk hero.
Sure, 10mm more travel might only seem like one small step. But, coupled with a lower link-driven VPP suspension design, this is one giant leap for the Tallboy.
It's the kind of bike that makes you sprint while going up, along, over, or down because of the maximum efficiency of the VPP design and responsive, lightweight chassis. But, because it shares the same engineering principles as our longest travel bikes, the progressive lower link-mounted shock feels equally at home doing cross-country as it does in extreme-country. Paired with a 130mm fork the new Tallboy becomes ever more appealing to riders who like to open it up.
And, the geometry: that's a big part of what's going on...
Established theory suggests shorter-travel bikes get ridden more slowly, therefore require steeper and more conservative geometries. In reality though, when was the last time you ever throttled back on a fun trail because you weren't on a bigger bike? ...caution to the wind and all that. So, we've done the same here and mimicked our longer travel geometry to create a bike with a 65.5-degree head-angle, generous front center, and short-offset fork, something rarely seen on a bike of this ilk.
And, the radical thinking doesn't stop there. The Tallboy's short-short 430mm chainstays have +/- 10mm of rear axle adjustment to ensure riders of all sizes and styles feel equally at home. Match that to a relatively low BB (335mm and 37.5mm drop), and you've got a combo that's ready to haul into every pocket turn and launch out the other side.
